Ariana Grande blasts male fan who made her feel ‘sick and objectified’

Ariana Grande has taken to social media to talk about a recent run-in with a male fan that left her feeling “sick and objectified.”
In a lengthy letter posted to Twitter on Tuesday night (Dec. 27), the “Dangerous Woman” singer described the uncomfortable encounter, which began when she went to pick up food with her boyfriend Mac Miller.
“A young boy followed us to the car to tell mac that he’s a big fan. He was loud and excited and by the time M was seated in the drivers seat he was literally almost in the car with us,” she wrote.
“I thought all of this was cute and exciting until he said “ariana is sexy as hell man i see you, i see you hitting that!!! *pause* Hitting that? the f—k??,” she recalled. “This may not seem like a big deal to some of you but I felt sick and objectified. I was also sitting right there when he said it. (?)”
Ariana revealed that she felt “really quiet and hurt” after the incident, and said these are the types of moments that “contribute to women’s sense of fear and inadequacy.”
“I am not a piece of meat that a man gets to utilize for his pleasure. I’m an adult human being in a relationship with a man who treats me with love and respect,” she continued. “It hurts my heart that so many young people are so comfortable enough using these phrases and objectifying women with such ease.”
The performer said she felt it was important to talk about the encounter because “most women know the sensation of being spoken about in an uncomfortable way publicly or taken advantage of publicly by a man,” and concluded the letter by encouraging other females to speak up about such experiences.
“We need to talk about these moments openly because they are harmful and they live on inside of us as shame. We need to share and be vocal when something makes us feel uncomfortable because if we don’t, it will just continue,” she declared. “We are not objects or prizes. We are QUEENS.” ~Shelby Morton

Ariana Grande’s ‘One Love’ benefit concert in support of those affected by the Manchester terrorist attack was an emotional show of strength, love and solidarity.
She doesn’t mention her boyfriend’s reaction. If he didn’t immediately spring to her defense and tell the jerk he was out of line and their relationship was more than that, then she’s not with a man. Time to jump ship, darling.

I think it’s really good that she spoke up about this. We as women need to understand that it’s not impolite to stand up for yourself.

This girl is a pig and a stupid one at that. Of course men talk to her and about her like that. ‘Sure would help Grande, in her quest to not be objective, if she didn’t dress like a slut, and sing about getting banged all night, but hey, when you have the cake, and you want to eat it too…
What you end up with is a spoiled brat.
So basically what some of you are saying is that she deserves to be talked to inappropriately/harassed/put down because she dresses a certain way and sings about certain things? That this male fan was under some sort of mini-skirt induced spell that literally forced words out of his mouth? Hmmmm…interesting…
Of course that’s not what we’re saying. There are always going to be pervs out there, and so if you objectify yourself and make yourself a sexual target don’t cry when some loser makes sexual comments. She might be taken more seriously if she sang hymns and wore more clothing. What does she expect to happen lol
Laura is right. She made that guy a fan by being sexual, can’t be upset when that’s how he thinks of you.
I’m shocked and frankly disgusted that two people, who I’m assuming identify as women based on their user name, are encouraging and justifying this behaviour.
Bottom line, Ariana felt uncomfortable and ashamed based on the comments made about her by another person and has every right to speak out about it.
What she does for a living has nothing to do with how she should be treated by others. Ariana should be allowed to express herself and her sexuality without being labelled as a “slut”. Laura, the fact you used the words sexual “target” when describing her is pathetic. Target. TARGET. A sexual target implying that anyone can come up to her and do and say whatever they want.
Ariana, I applaud your courage. Women need to stick together and support one another, and not encourage slut-shaming.
