Billy Ray Cyrus private gig in Toronto last night

By Alexandra Heilbron on October 17, 2012 | 16 Comments

Billy Ray Cyrus was in Toronto yesterday to promote his new CD, Change My Mind, and Tribute had the opportunity to talk to him about not only the CD, but his autobiography coming out next April, his 2013 tour, his daughter Miley Cyrus‘s engagement and other upcoming projects, including a stint on Broadway in the musical Chicago. We were also invited to a intimate private show at the Rivoli last night, for a crowd of approximately 100, including some who’d won tickets via radio contests. Billy Ray was greeted with loud applause when he showed up at 7:30 p.m. on the stage and performed a set of songs from his new album, including the title track “Change My Mind” and “That’s What Daddys Do” – a tender song about his own father. He bantered with the ardent fans in the crowd and ended the set with “Achy Breaky Heart,” but when they begged for more, he complied with one last song, “Stomp,” then graciously took time to sign autographs and pose for photos with fans.  Former Canadian heavyweight boxer George Chuvalo was on hand in the audience for the performance and afterwards was greeted with delight by Billy Ray, then the two posed for photos with each other and with fans. Billy Ray’s new CD, Change My Mind, drops this Monday, October 22nd. Check back later for our exclusive interview! ~Alexandra Heilbron

You think anyone would remember him if his daughter hadn’t gotten famous? Washed up singer clinging to little fame he has left. Pathetic.

Germain, if you listened to country music you’d know he’s had many, many hits over the years and if anything, being associated with Miley has hurt his career but it looks like he’s back on track now. He was on that stupid show for her benefit so she could have a career and I doubt she appreciates it but she wouldn’t have been Hannah Montana if he hadn’t agreed to play her father.
