Black Adam conquers competition at weekend box office

Black Adam starring Dwayne JohnsonBlack Adam starring Dwayne Johnson in the title role easily fought off the competition at the box office this weekend. The DCEU film debuted with a domestic take of $67 million.

Also new this weekend was Ticket to Paradise starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts as a divorced couple with plenty of banter. The comedy earned $16.3 million in its debut weekend.

The horror movie Smile dropped a spot to third place, taking in an additional $8.4 million for a four-week total of $84.3 million.

After opening at No. 1 last weekend, Halloween Ends dropped four spots in its second weekend in theaters. The horror film earned an additional $8 million for a two-week take of $54.1 million.

Rounding out the top five was the family film Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, about a little boy who finds a singing crocodile living in his home. In its third weekend, the film earned $4.2 million for a total of $28.7 million. ~Alexandra Heilbron
