Black Panther continues to rule weekend box office

Black Panther posterEven though two new movies opened across North America this weekend, Black Panther continued to reign at the weekend box office for a third consecutive week. Black Panther is the third film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to hold onto the top spot for its first three weekends — the other two were The Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Starring Chadwick Boseman in the title role, Black Panther earned an additional $65.7 million for a domestic total of $501.1 million. That makes it the second-fastest film to reach the $500 million mark — only Star Wars: The Force Awakens was faster, achieving that feat in 10 days. Our users give Black Panther 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Debuting in second place was the spy thriller Red Sparrow, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Joel Edgerton as spies who fall in love, despite the danger surrounding them. It took in an estimated $17 million. Our users gave it a rating of 3.6 stars.

Third place also went to a new release — Death Wish, starring Bruce Willis. This remake of the 1974 classic movie earned an estimated $13 million and 3.3 stars on our site.

Dropping two spots from second to fourth was the hilarious comedy Game Night, starring Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams and  Kyle Chandler. It took in an additional $10.7 million for a domestic total of $33.5 million and has a user rating of 4.2 stars.

Rounding out the top five was the live-action comedy Peter Rabbit, following the story of the mischievous bunny from the classic children’s books. The film earned $10 million for a domestic total of $84 million and a rating of 4.6 stars. ~Alexandra Heilbron

    To Alexandra Heilbron and Tribute.ca,
Unfortunately, your rating of 3.5 stars for the Black Panther movie is not accurate and does not reflect your users’ ratings and reviews because you have ‘one’ troll (same person) on the Tribute.ca site that has used over 100 pages typing ridiculous terrible reviews, many with spoilers, and with 1 star ratings under the Black Panther movie. It is unfair to the readers because they are not getting true ratings and reviews of the movie. He/she will take up 50 pages in a row to type his reviews and give a 1 star rating. It is obvious to some of the readers that it is the same person who is giving the 1 star and horrible rating, and they are requesting you have him/her blocked/removed. He is spending a lot of hours and days hacking away at the ratings. He has brought the ratings down from 4.13 to 3.34 hence why you had to write a 3.5 rating in your article. I’m sure Black Panther would have 5 stars rating if he was not spamming the Tribute.ca site with 1 star. Please look into his/her issue. His/Her reviews are the only reviews with 1 star.

To Karen. We have a troll who continues trolling this movie saying he/her would preferring to drink rat poising rather to watch this movie. User keeps attacking everyone who gives a good opinion to the movie. This user comes during the day and fades after 7PM California time. This user needs to get blocked away because is bringing politics in here. He/She not longer rating the movie. The user keeps harassment everyone. In one post user said I wish I could see when people found three stars from this movie. He/Her reviews are very disturbing. Like the one with the poison for rats. Seriously?

It’s not that good a movie. Calm down folks. 3.5 stars is fair in my opinion.

    To Alexandra
No fair user is adding politics to the movie.
We are here to give good reviews not to mention who won or lost the elections. User needs to get banned.
