Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard fuel emotionally-fraught Allied trailer

Shortly after Brangelina dropped the divorce bomb, rumors swirled that a possible affair between Brad Pitt and his Allied co-star Marion Cotillard was to blame. Now, the official trailer for the film that sparked those suspicions has launched.

In Allied, Brad plays Max Vatan while Marion portrays Marianne Beausejour. Both are undercover operatives, both wildly good looking. They meet on a mission to take down Nazis during WWII but quickly realize there’s more to their relationship than guns and bullets. They fall in love, travel to London to wed and, as the trailer depicts, enjoy momentary bliss.

But when authorities inform Max that Marianne is suspected of being a German spy, the love they built their relationship upon is pulled into question. Max is told that if Marianne is indeed discovered to be working for the Germans, it is his duty to execute her with his own hands. If he fails, he’ll be hanged.

Allied is directed by Oscar-winner Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump), written by Oscar-nominee Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things) and co-stars Lizzy Caplan, Simon McBurney and Matthew Goode. It’s slated to launch into theaters Nov. 23, 2016.
