Bruce Greenwood honored by ACTRA

Bruce Greenwood, who’s starred in such films as Star Trek and Being Julia and can currently be seen on the big screen in the critically-acclaimed Barney’s Version, is being given the Award of Excellence by ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists). Greenwood was born in Montreal and raised in Vancouver, and currently resides in Los Angeles. He’s also starred on TV in the medical drama St. Elsewhere and won a Gemini Award for a guest appearance on Road to Avonlea. ACTRA national president Ferne Downey will present Greenwood with the award at a luncheon at the Los Angeles residence of David Fransen, consul-general of Canada on January 27. The award recognizes an ACTRA member’s contribution to the Canadian film and television industry. Eugene Levy, Sandra Oh, Kiefer Sutherland and Leslie Nielsen are past recipients of the award.

I remember seeing him on Road to Avonlea years ago and thinking how amazing he was. I’m glad they’re honoring him.

It’s well deserved.
He should have come to Canada to get his award. Why are we sending people down there??? Well either way, I think he is a very good actor and is deserved too.
