Bruce Willis out, Harrison Ford in for The Expendables 3

By Tribute on August 7, 2013 | 7 Comments

One tough action star is being traded for another, and Sylvester Stallone is ecstatic. The actor confirmed news that Harrison Ford is replacing Bruce Willis in Lionsgate’s The Expendables 3, tweeting “WILLIS OUT, HARRISON FORD IN!!!! GREAT NEWS !!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!” to his 900, 000 followers. Minutes later, he followed up with “GREEDY AND LAZY …… A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE.”

Willis appeared in the first two Expendables films as a main character, however, it’s apparent he did not leave the franchise under good terms. Stallone’s representatives confirmed to HuffPost Entertainment that his forthright tweet was in fact a reference to Willis. Rumors have been flying as to what other A-List stars will be joining Stallone and his team, with names like Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich mentioned. However, Indiana Jones star Ford was an unexpected surprise.

Also confirmed for the sequel to the 2010 and 2012 action flicks are Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham and Kellan Lutz. In June, Lionsgate announced that it had set a U.S. release date of August 15, 2014 for The Expendables 3. The previous two films were also released in mid-August, which is seemingly the perfect time to snag action fans, grossing $274 million and $300 million worldwide, respectively. ~Naomi Leanage

That’s really tacky that he tweeted that. If he doesn’t like Bruce, he should keep it to himself. But then, who expects class from Stallone?

Really, why advertise issues over social media? Why aren’t people keeping some thoughts to themselves anymore? Why does the world need to know.
These guys have been in a restaurant venture together, movies together and now this separates them? Come on.
But Harrison Ford is awesome surprise. These movies rock with getting ALL the best action stars to ever kill thousands of people and never running out of energy or bullets in one flick! Love the idea but stop at 3!

Knowing how much he profited from the first two movies…. it looks like Stallone is the one being greedy.

Career Failure!!! For Bruce Willis??? He’s in his 50s and had a very successful career, why would he fail at this point of his life because he wouldn’t do the THIRD movie of a franchise that barely makes back it’s budget.

This is what happens when you make an INDY movie like CRYSTAL SKULL…

I think Bruce Willis made those demands because he wanted out of the franchise. I’m a fan of -most- of those action stars, but the films are simply atrocious.

The tongue-in-cheek Chuck Norris cameos and Arnold and Bruce driving around in the car finished it for me. The first one was entertaining, the second one was just plain silly.
