Presented by Tribute Entertainment, this year’s Canadian Music Week Film Fest will showcase a mix of international premieres and screenings of music-related movies from all over the world. This exciting show, which runs from May 8 to 10, presents a variety of fascinating characters and gripping stories: a frontman for a pop band with a large fake head, a crime-fighting rock band from Miami, Jimi Hendrix on the verge of becoming a rock legend and much more.

The 2014 movie component of the annual music extravaganza will pay homage to musical legends and their influence on music and culture. This year’s program includes: Finding Fela!, the story of Fela Anikulapo Kuti and the Afrobeat movement; JIMI: All By My Side, a John Ridley (screenwriter for the Academy-Award winner 12 Years a Slave) film, which focuses on Jimi Hendrix’s life prior to becoming a rock star; Frank, a comedy starring Michael Fassbender and Maggie Gyllenhaal; We Are The Best!, a Swedish drama about three girls from Stockholm who decide to form a punk band and Miami Connection, a movie about a rock band fighting Florida’s drug trade.

The 7th Annual CMW Film Fest will take place at Toronto’s The Royal Cinema. Tickets for the CMW Film Fest are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Click here for more info or to purchase tickets.
