Canadian Screen Awards 2014 winners

It was a night filled with many memorable moments as winners were honored for their outstanding work in film, television and digital media. The popular sci-fi TV series Orphan Black picked up a total of 10 awards, including Best Performance by an Actress in a Dramatic Role for Tatiana Maslany (pictured at left). The Regina-born actress said: “This is such an honor for me to be here tonight and nominated opposite so many incredible actresses.” Enemy, directed by Denis Villeneuve, picked up five awards, including the Best Director trophy. Viggo Mortensen presented director David Cronenberg with a Lifetime Achievement award. Gabrielle, Canada’s official selection for Oscar foreign-language film, was named Best Film of the Year and newcomer Gabrielle Marion-Rivard scooped the Best Actress in Film award. Call Me Fitz dominated in many categories, including Best Actor and Best Actress, which were picked up by Jason Priestley and Tracy Dawson, respectively. The raunchy TV series also managed to win Best Comedy Series. Fan’s Choice Favourite TV Show or Film went to Lost Girl and Zoie Palmer was named Fan’s Choice Screen Star. ~Marriska Fernandes
