Captain America: The Winter Soldier continues to reign at the box office, drawing $41.4 million in its second weekend. Taking the second spot was the animated movie Rio 2, which opened on Friday. Even though Captain America did clip Rio’s wings, the movie managed to score a 5-star Tribute rating from our readers and earned $39 million.
Coming in third place was the horror film Oculus, which opened with a solid win, making $12 million in the first weekend and scoring a 3.2 rating from Tribute readers. Directed by Ivan Reitman, Draft Day, an NFL draft day dramedy starring Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner, came in at fourth place with $9.75 million. Rounding out the top five was Divergent, which roped in $7.5 million this weekend, bringing its gross total to $124.8 million. Divergent still attracts many teen fans and managed to get a 4.2 rating from our Tribute readers.
Rounding out the top ten are Noah, God’s Not Dead, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Muppets Most Wanted and Mr. Peabody & Sherman. ~Alexandra Sharova
