Captain America grosses $200M in third week at top of box office

Captain America: The Winter Soldier continued to hold its spot at the top of the box office, grossing an extra $25.6 million during Easter weekend for a whopping total of $200.5 million. It earned 3.8 stars from Tribute.ca viewers. Debuting in second place was Heaven is for Real, the drama based on the true story of a boy who went to Heaven during an emergency surgery. It earned $22.5 million over the weekend for a total of $29.5 million since it opened Wednesday. Tribute viewers rated it 4 stars. Dropping one spot from last weekend was the animated movie Rio 2, taking in $22.16 million for a two-week total of $75 million. Tribute viewers loved it, giving it 5 out of 5 stars. Also debuting Easter weekend was Transcendence starring Johnny Depp, which underperformed, earning only $10.9 million and 3.25 Tribute.ca stars.

Rounding out the top five was the sequel A Haunted House 2, which earned a paltry $8.8 million. The top ten include (in order):  Draft Day, DivergentOculus, Noah and Bears. For full box office results, click here~Alexandra Heilbron

    Not surprised about Transcendence, but thought Bears would do better.

    Bears looks like a delightful movie … but it doesn’t have the “must rush out and see it” vibe. I am not surprised by Captain America doing so well … it is a great movie (especially for Marvel fans) and there hasn’t been too much competition for that type of movie.
