Carrie Underwood engaged to hockey player

Carrie Underwood 26, has become engaged to Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher, 29. Fisher popped the question Sunday afternoon at his home in Ottawa, then texted friends with the good news. The two have been dating for one year. Fisher, who is originally from Peterborough, Ontario, is a devout Christian, as is Underwood, who was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Incidentally, her married name will be Carrie Fisher. Underwood’s rep confirmed the news to USA Today, adding that the “couple couldn’t be happier.” A wedding date has not yet been set. ~Alexandra Heilbron
