Chadwick Boseman in 42As tributes pour in for Chadwick Boseman from co-stars, directors, teachers and even those who he had never met, his former high school has announced they are paying their respects in the form of a scholarship.

The principal at Boseman’s former high school in South Carolina, T. L. Hanna High School, is setting up the Chadwick Boseman Memorial Scholarship. The grant will be awarded to one deserving student each year.

Walter Mayfield, the principal at the school, told TMZ the goal is to raise $100,000 so the scholarship can last for many years. People have already reached out to donate and the school has set up its own donation page.

Chadwick died August 28, 2020 at the age of 43, after a private four-year battle with colon cancer. He is best remembered for his breakthrough performance as Jackie Robinson in the 2012 film 42 and his award-winning roles as James Brown in Get On Up (2014) and T’Challa/Black Panther in the Avengers franchise. ~Brie Davis

I’m still in shock that he’s gone. I’m glad his high school chose to remember him in a way that will benefit others. He’s greatly missed.

I had tears in my eyes upon discovery of Chadwick’s passing. I had no idea he was ill therefore it all blew me over the top. I cared for him very much even as a mere fan of his work. My recollections of “42”, “Marshall””, without even mentioning Black Panther solidified in my mind that he was the real thing. It a tremendous loss as he made such few films (but thankfully we have those), but further we are denied all the great work he would have done in coming years,

I am a white dude but Chadwick was my brother and I cared for him deely as a committed man of principle not to mention talent. Love you always, bro. May the Lord “keep and bless you”. Rest well and be assured you WILL NEVER be forgotten. You made too much of an impact on all of us to simly relegate you to a slight ” remembrance of of things past”,
R.I.P. +, beloved Mr. Boseman and thank you once ag for all you have given us.
God Will Be Gentle with you because of your magnanimous heart and soul.
