Channing Tatum to play Evel Knievel

By Tribute on July 12, 2012 | 3 Comments

Channing Tatum is currently in talks to star as Evel Knievel in the upcoming biopic, Life of Evel, being made by Columbia Pictures. The action film will be produced by The Social Network and Moneyball duo – Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti. However, that may not be the only film the 21 Jump Street actor works on with the duo. De Luca and Brunetti are behind one more project that Channing has been loosely linked to – Fifty Shades of Grey. Channing is one of the many big names that have been mentioned to play Christian Grey – the controlling billionaire in the highly anticipated film adaptation of the erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey. The Magic Mike star addressed the idea of his starring in the film in a Twitter Q&A with Glamour UK and said he would be willing to act in the film… as long as his wife co-stars. His answer to the Fifty Shades question was: “1) Yes. 2) I’d only be allowed if my wife was Ana.” Channing said his wife (Jenna Dewan) read the novels and it would only make sense for him to play Christian if she was playing Ana (the submissive student). There are definitely lots of people that would love to see the former stripper play that role, but we will just have to wait and see who gets the part.  ~Stacy Raivich

Very noble of him but it’s also a CLM (career-limiting move) since if he makes that request for every starring role he is offered, then romantic comedies, dramas and pretty much anything with him as a leading man with a love interest that his wife can’t play will simply be given to other hungrier actors.

Not so…Evel was quite a complex personality

He’s a bit bulky for Evil… I think Ryan Reynolds would be a better pick – he’s leaner… or how about Nick Nolte’s son???? He’s got the Evil thing going…. Evil was not a muscular pretty boy – he was a rebel with a cause…. I watched him going across the Grand Canyon when I was a kid. Don’t remember it, but it was a spectacle that the family “paid” to attend on satellite at Maple Leaf Gardens’ to watch. How old it that?!
