Chris Brown apologizes for Rihanna attack

By Alexandra Heilbron on July 21, 2009 | 11 Comments

Chris Brown has released a video on his official website in which he apologizes for his attack on then-girlfriend, Rihanna, earlier this year. This is the first time Brown has spoken publicly about his actions. He says, “Since February my attorney has advised me not to speak out even though ever since the incident I wanted to publicly express my deepest regret and accept full responsibility. I felt it was time you hear directly from me that I am sorry.” He goes on to say: “I am very saddened and very ashamed of what I have done.” Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault last month in order to spare himself jail time. He’ll be sentenced on August 5th to five years probation, as well as six months of community service. In the video, Brown explains, “As many of you know, I grew up in a home where there was domestic violence and I saw firsthand what uncontrolled rage can do. What I did was unacceptable 100 percent. I can only ask and pray that you forgive me – please.”

nothign says I’m sorry like reading form a tele-prompter.

i knew he wouldnt get jail time! pisses me off to no end. all this does is prove to people that abuse their wives or spouses, or have the urge to do it, that they CAN and they wont even have to worry about going to jail. i feel bad for all of humanity.

heard his “apology” on the radio today…NOT SINCERE…not by a long shot. I’d say his popularity has dwindled and he is grasping at straws. How about putting your words to action, Chris, helping out in abused shelters, be a big brother to some kids, do some SPCA volunteer work, show us you are changing…

carol, i dont think any abuse shelters would let someone that has been known to smack around their girlfriends come in and help…or would anyone allow him to be around their impressionable children…what you do think?

Mandee, that was an error on my part, maybe homeless shelters or other types of shelters. I think you are correct because women in homeless shelters need to build up a lot of strenght in many different ways, and a guy like him can talk the talk and perhaps do more damage than good.

Great comments from everyone. This guy is a dirtbag pure and simple.

As insincere as his ‘songs’. He should be a rapper, it’s more honest.

yes, homeless shelters would be better, or he could help out with a charity or something. but, we all know he wont unless thats what the courts MAKE him do for beating his ex so harshly. man, the justice system makes me sick.
