Dane Cook apologizes for insensitive Dark Knight Rises joke

By Tribute on July 30, 2012 | 9 Comments

Last Thursday, Dane Cook performed his stand-up act at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles where he suggested that the victims of the Dark Knight Rises shooting in Aurora wanted to die because the movie was so bad. “This movie is pretty much a piece of crap,” Cook began. “I know that if none of that would have happened, pretty sure that somebody in that theater, about 25 minutes in, realizing it was a piece of crap, was probably like, ‘Ugh, f***ing shoot me.’” The joke received a mix of groans and laughter, but considering the shooting only took place a week ago, Cook’s joke sparked anger across the Internet.
On Friday, Cook responded on his Twitter account to the outrage over his insensitive joke. He tweeted, “I am devastated by the recent tragedy in Colorado & did not mean to make light of what happened. I made a bad judgment call with my material last night & regret making a joke at such a sensitive time. My heart goes out to all of the families & friends of the victims.” ~Isabelle Khoo

Pretty stupid and ignorant joke. Dane Cook never was and will never be funny. He just rants like a crazy old man when he does stand up.

Dane, your a moron. TDKR was a genius film, but then again, judging from the films you’ve made, you wouldn’t know a good movie if it slapped you in the face. Your joke was insensitive and your an asshole. sincerely, Will.

When was the last movie he was in? Flash in the pan and nation wide tour over, back to small clubs.
His apology is stupid. Really use your damn head.

I thought he was a lousy comedian and a terrible actor beforehand. Now I need add real-life jerk-wad to the list. They say bad things happen on threes; it’s good to see Dane has his bases covered.

That was probably the only good joke he ever said lol. True the movie did sort of suck actually. Just bad timing. Stupid for saying it a week after the shootings. Also not original everyone was already saying that they were “dying to see the movie” or “it sucked so bad I wanted to blow my brains out” so honestly this wash up needs a new gig like flipping burgers. Loser.
