Dave Bautista threatens to quit third Guardians film

Dave Bautista in Guardians of the GalaxyIn the wake of the recent firing of director/screenwriter James Gunn from the third Guardians of the Galaxy film, the cast of the movies came together to protest.

Dave Bautista is taking it one step further. Although he’s contractually committed to a third film, he said in an interview with Shortlist: “Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man… James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met.”

James Gunn not only directed, but wrote the screenplays for the first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, which were huge box office hits. Bautista is now saying that if they ditch Gunn’s script for the upcoming film, which he had already handed in to Marvel, he will quit.

“Where I’m at right now is that if they don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”

He also tweeted to a fan who asked if he’d be involved in the third film in the series: “I will do what i’m legally obligated to do but Guardians without James Gunn is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o James Gunn just isn’t GOTG. It’s also pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis. That’s just how I feel.”

Go Dave! And all the other cast members should do something about this. If they can’t get out of their contracts, then don’t do the work. Show up and do your shittiest. Whatever it takes to get James Gunn back. Anyone can see from the video I saw on this site when the Guardians ride opened at Disneyland what kind of a guy he is. He was so excited, he was like a little kid. There’s no way those tweets were anything but poor attempts at jokes. Get James Gunn back! (Or the next movie will suck)

For the sake of the movies direction and the entire marvel vision and success, I think everyone needs to stop being so sensitive because of a few stupid words said on the internet and get back to work continuing great movies. Why stop making hits when you have a good thing going? Did the man apologize for his words? Does he not have credible actions to back up the type of person he is? Yea he has an odd sense of humor, doesn’t everyone have an odd friend that brings a flare to debate about. He could be saying those things for attention and has a way to vent out like that. Has the world gone cold hearted and forgot to forgive and let heal to move on better from this? Like grow up and move on! The guardians of the galaxy movies were the best and most entertaining of the marvel cinemas and moving forward without that same style will just crush expectations and enjoyment! Reinstate James Gunn as director!

I, enjoyed GOTG….& if the next one doesn’t include the ENTIRE gang (writer/ director included;)… I DO SO HOPE, everyone will do as I will,& cease to patronizie ALL Marvel movies. Stan Lee has enough money… they deserve NO support for being straight up dickheads….& to ALL the Twitter verse fools, just STOP…. nobody cares about ur idiocy. There are REAL WORLD BURNING UP PROBLEMS;… grow up already.

I agree—he HAS apologized –turned his thinking in a different direction and done incredible directing. I will also boycott those movies—sad tho I will be. Is totally different from say—Weinstein and Roseanne —who continue to NOT be apologetic, nor turned around If they would–we surely should forgive too.
