Director a no-show for Natalie Portman movie

By Tribute on March 21, 2013 | 5 Comments

The director of Natalie Portman’s new movie, Jane Got a Gun, failed to show up for the first day of work this week. Lynne Ramsay, who directed We Need to Talk About Kevin, has suddenly abandoned the production team. While there have been whispers of previous issues with Ramsay according to IndieWire, there was no warning this would happen. Understandably, producer Scott Steindorff was not amused and was particularly upset about Ramsay’s inconsideration for the 150 cast and crew members working on the movie. Luckily, Ramsay has already found a new director: Gavin O’Connor, who directed the movie Warrior. Still, the Ramsay no-show is a concern for Steindorff. Jane Got A Gun, which also stars Joel Edgerton, has already faced considerable adversity – earlier in March, Michael Fassbender left the cast and was replaced by Jude Law. ~Cassie Jasinski

How could a person just leave? Now Ramsay has bad reputation. Good luck finding future work!

Exactly. Black listing in Hollywood can be brutally harsh. Very few have chances for comebacks and actually make it.

A better question might be, what would provoke a director to walk away from a lucrative job knowing it would be bad press.

Where’s the ‘like’ button on that? lol

Very unprofessional. Lynne Ramsay was selfish to only think of herself. There are many cast and crew that depended on this lady to show up. Doesn’t matter what the problem was she should told them beforehand.
