Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune maintained its top spot at the box office for the second weekend in a row. The film held onto IMAX screens, attributing to its success as the film earned 22.5 percent of its overall opening weekend gross from IMAX screens last weekend. Dune earned an additional $69.3 million for a total gross of $15.4 million.
Maintaining its spot from last weekend was Halloween Kills. After seeing a sharp decline of 71 percent last weekend, the film stabilized thanks to Halloween on Sunday. The film took the second spot at the box office, earning a total of $8.7 million for a three-week total of $85.9 million.
Placing third at the weekend box office was No Time To Die. It has been a month since the film’s release and it continues to hold strong, earning an additional $7.8 million for a total take of $133.3 million.
The only new film to break into the top five at the box office, the animated film My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission, took fourth place, earning $6.4 million.
Rounding out the top five was Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The superhero film earned $5.8 million at the box office this weekend, bringing its total gross earnings to $190.4 million. ~Sean Olegario

The winners of the 27th annual Critics Choice Awards were announced last night with the biggest film winner being The Power of the Dog and for TV, Ted Lasso.
