Eddie Redmayne debated retirement

Eddie RedmayneEddie Redmayne considered retiring after he won a Best Actor Oscar.

The 33-year-old star was one of the youngest winners ever when he picked up the coveted trophy for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything earlier this year and admitted he had a ”moment” of debating quitting while he was ahead as he was unsure if he could ever match the success.

He admitted: ”I had a moment of, ‘Oh f**k, I might retire tomorrow. I’m never going to do anything again.’ The thought that it happened too early came in for a second. But then I thought, No, I want this.”

Despite his Oscar win and frequent praise from critics, the actor insists he still has to work incredibly hard. He told Details magazine: ”It’s not as if I have got talent enough to not work hard with it.”

However, his Les Misérables co-star Hugh Jackman thinks Eddie is one of the best actors he has ever worked with.

He told the publication: ”Eddie is one of the few actors I’ve worked with who, during rehearsals, when we’re reading through the script, his delivery was so natural that, not once but three times, I thought he’d stopped reading and was just talking. He fooled the entire cast at the table read. He’s one of the best I’ve ever worked with.”
