Eddie Redmayne and Stephen Hawking at the BAFTAs Eddie Redmayne skipped the BAFTA after-parties to spend time with Stephen Hawking and his family. The 33-year-old actor opted to chill out with the physicist – who he portrayed in The Theory of Everything – on Sunday night after the star-studded ceremony, at which he was presented with the Best Actor prize for the role.

The star was spotted hanging out with Stephen and his first wife Jane Wilde – who was portrayed by Felicity Jones in the film – at the Grosvenor House Hotel in central London. As well as relaxing after the event – which also saw the movie win the Best British Film accolade, presented by legendary former footballer David Beckham – Eddie is planning to whisk his wife Hannah Bagshawe, who he tied the knot with in December last year, away for a sun-drenched break.

He said: ”I’m loving married life. The plan is to go and sit on a beach somewhere with Hannah. She certainly deserves it. That’s the idea – get a few more freckles.”

The brunette beauty is also looking forward to chilling out when the awards season buzz is over and admitted she couldn’t hide her emotions as her husband went up to collect his Best Actor prize at London’s Royal Opera House on Sunday.

She told The Sun newspaper: ”I’m so proud, it’s been such a special night. I did get a bit teary, I think we all did. He has promised me a holiday but I don’t know where, somewhere relaxing where he can switch off.”
