Elizabeth Taylor jewels break auction records

By Tribute on December 14, 2011 | 1 Comment

Almost nine months after her death, Hollywood legend and style icon Elizabeth Tayler is still making headlines, this time for her collection of world-renowned gems. Eighty pieces from Taylor’s personal jewellery collection were auctioned off last night in New York, raking in almost $116 million dollars, more than doubling the record for a single-owner jewelry collection.

The auction continues tonight with Taylor’s exclusive haute couture collection, including the dress she wore for her marriage ceremony to Richard Burton and several custom gowns. A portion of all proceeds from the sales will go to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.
