There are a slew of options this weekend lead by a highly anticipated science fiction adaptation. Based on Orson Scott Card’s celebrated novel of the same name, Ender’s Game will release to a wide audience with a balanced cast of proven talent and promising youngsters. The futuristic science-fiction actioner stars Asa Butterfield as Ender Wiggin, a 12-year-old genius sent to a military base in space to lead an army against an impending attack by an alien race on Earth. The film is supported by a solid cast, including Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Abigail Breslin and Viola Davis. Also releasing this weekend is the animated turkey comedy Free Birds. Starring Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson and Amy Poehler, it follows Reggie and Jake, a pair of renegade turkeys who travel back in time to take turkey off the Thanksgiving dinner menu for good.

Last Vegas stars a heralded cast of Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline as a group of friends who go to Las Vegas for the bachelor party of the last single member of their group. This will mark the first time the group of acclaimed actors have shared the screen together.

Last but not least is the romantic comedy About Time from the director of Love Actually, Richard Curtis. It stars Domhnall Gleeson as Tim Lake, who on his 21st birthday is told by his father, played by the hilarious Bill Nighy, that he can travel back in time. This new discovery complicates his attempts to woo Mary, the girl of his dreams, played by Rachel McAdams. ~Raj-Kabir Birk
