Ethan Hawke says Selena Gomez’s level of fame is difficult

By Tribute on September 5, 2013 | 9 Comments

Ethan Hawke, 43, claims that his Getaway co-star Selena Gomez, 21, faces a more difficult level of fame in comparison to his experience of being a young celebrity in the public eye back in the ’90s. “It’s a very difficult landscape she’s trying to navigate right now,” Ethan told Reuters in an interview. “I think it’s much more difficult today to be a young person and grow up. The constant buzz and pressure and noise and static of the internet, and the way it makes young people feel, makes it difficult to grow up and develop the way one might want to.” While Ethan insists he had it easier, he still believes being famous has “always been dangerous.” He also admitted he’s curious to see the direction that Selena’s career will head, saying: “I’ll be curious to see, she’s at a really interesting moment in her life. Is she going to continue to be a musician? Is she going to develop as an actress, is she going to continue to do both? It’s so hard for every young person, trying to figure out the adult you want to be.” ~Alfonso Espina

He never even had close to the level of fame she has right now, so he wouldn’t know.

I think that’s what he’s trying to say…anyway it’s interesting his comment. Seems almost big brother-like for him to even be thinking about it.

He was famous young star. Obviously not as a singer and actor, but he does understand and just pointing out the changes in the level of stardom in 20yrs. Does seem more like a big brother comment.

Ms. Gomez has no talent to speak of. She is just another example, of the culture of “entertainment hero worship” that rags like this one, promote. Look around, is there an internet site that is not plastered with images of Gomez, Cyrus, and that mule-faced country bumpkin, who wears a pound of makeup on her face (her name fails me at the moment). These sites just can’t get enough, out of reporting (?) about some sort of B. S. concerning these little fuzz boxes. As if it is at all relevant.
100,000 innocent people have been murdered in Syria in the last 2 years, by their maniac government, and all that these sites have to show is another picture, of that mousy little Gomez, and her 2 mule-faced friends from the country. Get with the program, people!

It’s even more difficult when you’re on and off with one of the most loved/hated teen celeb out there.

Gbh999 wow you’re really pissed huh? Maybe this isn’t the right website for you to be blasting people you don’t and never will know and do something useful with your anger? Obviously you are passionate about the hateful things done by humans, however with your ‘name’ meaning grievous bodily harm and the emergency number of the UK emergency services, I am doubting you mean to do much good with your energy?
