Fantasia attempts suicide following affair allegations

American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino overdosed on medications after reports surfaced recently about her having an affair with a married man, says her rep. Barrino was checked into a hospital in North Carolina on Monday and is now in stable condition. Her publicist says Fantasia was devastated when her actions hit the headlines after being named in divorce proceedings between Antwuan Cook and his wife Paula, who alleges the singer had an affair with Cook after meeting him in August 2009. A statement issued by Barrino’s rep yesterday reads: “Fantasia is heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused. Yesterday, she was totally overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the media attention. Last night, Fantasia was hospitalized. She took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid. Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time. Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon. Fantasia is a fighter and a survivor. This is not the hardest thing Fantasia has endured.” Barrino’s rep confirms that the singer was romantically involved with Cook, but that she believed he was separated from his wife at the time.

She has a great voice – and so what if she has a child out of wedlock. She’s not the first person on the face of this planet to have sex before marriage. She could have had an abortion but didn’t – had she had an abortion I can just imagine the mean things you three would have to say.

I have a horrible singing voice as well, but I’m intelligent enough not to pursue something I’m not good at.

if she wasnt good enough to be a singer, she probably wouldnt have WON AI. ahaha. also, people have children without the father around all the time, it doesnt make them bad people.
do i think she is stupid for trying to OD over this? i sure do. there are worse things that can happen to a person than a lawsuit and someone saying you slept with their husband (when you did!)
