Furtado, Polley join Canada’s Walk of Fame

Singer Nelly Furtado, 29, and actress Sarah Polley, 31, are the two youngest of the seven inductees this year to Canada’s Walk of Fame. They’ll be inducted during a star-studded ceremony to take place at the Canon Theatre in Toronto on October 16. The other inductees are Olympic speed skater and cyclist Clara Hughes, author Farley Mowatt, magician Doug Henning (post-humously), David Clayton-Thomas – the lead singer of “Blood, Sweat and Tears,” and actor Eric McCormack, best known for his role on the TV series Will and Grace. This will bring the total number of inductees on the Walk to 131. Canada’s Walk of Fame honors the achievements of Canadians in the fields of music, sport, film and television, visual and performing arts, science and innovation. Nominees must have been born in Canada or have spent their formative or creative years in the country. They must also have a minimum of 10 years experience in their field of expertise and have had a national or international impact on Canadian heritage.
