Gary Coleman arrested over the weekend

Despite having been out of the spotlight for years, Gary Coleman, 41, who made a name for himself as a child star in the 1970’s sitcom Different Strokes, is once again in the news. He was arrested in his hometown of Santaquin, Utah yesterday on a domestic-violence warrant for failing to appear in court due to a prior incident. Coleman, who is being held on $1,725 bail, was previously arrested in 2008 for allegedly hitting a fan with his pickup truck outside a Utah bowling alley. In 2000, he was ordered to pay another fan’s hospital bills resulting from a fight that occurred when he was asked for an autograph. His relationship with his wife Shannon, 24, has been rocky over the two years that they’ve been married, although she has not been confirmed as the alleged victim in the current case. Last July, Shannon herself was arrested on domestic violence charges after she broke a number of household items during a temper tantrum at their home. ~Alexandra Heilbron

Domestic violence for breaking “a number of household items”…did she break them over his head? She must have hit him with these objects or something. They sound like a couple of whackos! LOL.
But Nancy, within the last couple weeks you were saying that all assault is assault: verbal, mental and physical. So, therefore, under your definition, what she did could be considered assault/violence, as he was probably afraid of what more she would do to him.
I dont think this little monster is capable of to much and he also looks under the influence of something in this pic as his eyes are very dialated.
Silver: To “assault” SOMEONE…not the items, LOL. My definition of assault never included breaking things. It was assaulting others, whether it be verbally, physically or mentally…and last I checked, people didn’t get arrested for assault unless it was to ‘physically’ abuse SOMEONE. Please don’t try to tell me MY definitions.

Nancy, my point was that if someone is breaking things, and probably yelling, this is an indication of violent behaviour and could be seen as threatening. Isn’t that within your definition of assault? Isn’t it mental abuse if someone breaks my possessions that I value? If I hold a knife within an inch of you but don’t “physically” abuse you, are you saying that is NOT assault?

whats going on in the world that so many are being charged with abuse and assault? the world really SHOULDNT be such a violent place! this is other people we are hurting, how can the people causing this violence not feel bad and not want to change this?
Silver: No, I do not consider breaking someone’s belongings “assault”. My definitions of “assault” and “threatening” are two VERY different things. When someone breaks your possessions, I would define that as ‘you better get your butt in gear and take them to small claims’, LOL, not mental abuse. If someone holds a knife to you, they are THREATENING harm to you…to a living being, not an object such as personal possessions. So I consider your “knife within an inch of you” scenario to be defined as a threat to harm, the assault hasn’t been committed yet.
