Jeremy Renner denies gay rumor

By Alexandra Heilbron on April 7, 2012 | 8 Comments

Rumors about Jeremy Renner‘s sexual preference have been circling for the past few years, but they escalated when he was involved in a bar brawl in Thailand. Although the official story was that the fight began when a member of Renner’s party dropped a glass, a “blind” item showed up within days on blindgossip.com, regarding a bar brawl that happened when a famous actor engaged the services of a boy prostitute. When the pimp allegedly showed up at the bar wanting payment, someone in the actor’s party was seriously hurt, but not the actor, who was whisked away. Many readers immediately believed the item referred to the Thailand brawl involving Renner. The actor told The Hollywood Reporter: “[The man who was attacked] was saying stuff, and 20 people jumped on him. I was in flip-flops. I don’t do bar fights. Did he deserve to get stabbed and almost murdered by 20 people? F— no.” He also denied the gay rumors, saying, “I want my personal life to be personal, and it’s not f–king true.” The Avengers star added that even if the rumors were true, that would be his private business. “I don’t care if you’re talking about things that are true, you’re still talking about my personal life,” he added, “How about I go peek in your window, take what underwear you wore last, whose husband you were f–king, and shove that in the megaphone throughout your neighborhood? How does that feel? It’s none of your goddamn business.”

I’ve never understood this notion of trying to know everything about a celebrity. I guess it’s fueled by this desire to personally relate to them. They’re famous for being entertainers. They aren’t our friends. They make movies for us to go watch, music for us to hear, but at the end of the day they have no personal impact on your life. Sure their movies and/or music can make us feel a certain way. Sure some celebrities sign things and do other nice things for fans. If you think about it, they’re just doing people favours like you would if you help a neighbour. Anybody who feels like they know a celebrity by taking in what the media says about them is living in a fantasy world and should be more concerned with the people and friends around them. I’m sure there’s ample gossip in any given circle that can satisfy any craving you may have for that kind of thing, but there is no point in gossiping about someone who, at the end of the day, is a complete stranger to you and who doesn’t care about your opinion.

And yet Lloyd, we all keep coming back to read and know more about this useless garb. Tribute should just hire us to write the articles and post for hits. Can I get an amen?

I think Jeremy is an exceptional actor and totally hot. If he is gay and is in the closet it’s his right to stay there for as long as he chooses. Although I’ve always admired celebrities who have the courage to come out like Ricki Martin or Neil Patrick Harris. Having an openly gay action star would be a wicked revelation especially to young GLBTQ youth who believe they have to hide who they are or feel shamed because they don’t see themselves represented in “HollyWierd.”
I agree with his statement that it’s his private life and it should remain private. Coming out is an incredibly difficult thing for a mere mortal let alone a huge celebrity. We run the risk of losing friends, family and our jobs. Celebrities lose that and so much more on a much grander scale.

This is probably just because Jeremy Renner is too HOT to cool down, but I seriously think just because everybody knows about them, doesn’t mean they should know EVERYTHING about actors. I think everyone, especially the person who started the rumours, knows he’s not gay. They just like the attention he pays to it…And just by the way, earings don’t make you gay, they attract the opposite sex :p
