Joseph Gordon-Levitt as The Riddler?

By Alexandra Heilbron on July 22, 2010 | 18 Comments

Director Christopher Nolan was so impressed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s work in his hit movie Inception that he’s considering the young actor as a possibility to play The Riddler in his next Batman flick. HollywoodLife.com reports a source close to Nolan saying: “Chris really dug Joseph. There was a joke at first between them that Joseph wanted to read for Batman 3. It’s not 100% confirmed that he’s getting [the role of The Riddler] but there’s certainly talk about it. Joseph is definitely on the short list.” Ironically, Gordon-Levitt looks a lot like the late Heath Ledger, who played The Joker in Nolan’s The Dark Knight.  The two previously starred together in the 1999 film 10 Things I Hate About You. He looks more the part for robin than the riddler, I don’t see him as the riddler at all.

SO they find a picture where his head is tilted at the same angle an dthey think he looks like heath ledger?

    uhhhh…

I noticed that, they do have a few similaier features but you couldent mistake one for the other!

    Agreed XD

But I think he would be really good as the riddler. Honestly, when I first heard that Ledger was going to play the joker I was very skeptical. But look what happened? He nailed it

I’m a fan of Joseph. Would be great to see him in that role.

Mark my words. Joseph is an actor who is not afraid to tackle anything!! he will bring the same acting quality and magic that heath ledger brought to The Joker.

Joseph is one of those guys that he wouldent care if millions of people are watching him and his material would be to jump out and down farting… he would do it. I watched his appearance on SNL and his opening act shocked me with his sheer energy he brings to his work.

There is no doubt that Joseph will bring the most perfect personality to The Riddler, he definitely has the look and the squawky mannerisms to pull it off. i hope hes chosen.

What are you Agent Chris? Or do got the hots for him? lol

I saw them in 10 Things I Hate About You and I’d never seen either of them before and I thought they were brothers and so I was confused as to why they weren’t playing brothers! Heath was like the cool, older brother and Joseph was the kinda gawky, still growing out of adolescence one.

I agree with Chris. I was skeptical on the new style and take on The Joker but now it’s movie making history and well deserved Oscar win.
I liked Levitt on 3rd rock from the sun. I did NO like him in G.I.Joe, but I have to admit it was strange to see this kid be the supervillan in the end. But most other movies I catch him in, I am more and more impressed. Inception was fantastic and I have to say he held his own big time agaist other major talent. I won’t think Riddler would be another Oscar performance for a super-hero franchise movie, but I’m sure he’d perform exceptional.

Joseph did an alright job as Cobra Commander n I’ve been tol dat these 2 were cousins…

I prefer 2 c Johnny Depp as Riddler. He always wanted 2 work wit Nolan, Batman3 a great way 2 start

Depp would be a much better choice for the Riddler but Joseph is a good second place, he might pull it off.

  13. Johnny • July 23, 2010 @ 12:14 PM

    Jim Carrey for the Riddler…haha

  14. Guardian • July 23, 2010 @ 7:38 PM

Joseph Gordon Levitt would be the perfect Eric Draven for the new Crow adaption. Also a much better actor than Ledger ever could’ve been; they look nothing alike.

people must be blind. lets tilt ther heads the same way and say they look alike.

well anyone could tell you most people have similar facial structures maybe they are all cousins?

Id rather get Depp as the Riddle.

They have few similarities, but I think Heath Ledger was very good at his craft and so is JGL. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has come a long way from his days in 3rd Rock from the Sun…his work as he matures impresses me more and more (watch the independent movies he’s been in – fantastic!). I think he would do a fabulous job.

I think Johnny Depp is amazing, but I’m not sure I think he would be right for this role. On the other hand, JGL has really come into his own and I think he will knock it out of the park!

    Good for you, Joseph!

Forget him playing the Riddler, with that dead-on, uncanny resemblance to Heath Ledger they should bring the joker back and have someone else play the riddler — Depp wouldn’t be a bad way to go

i agree with you, mike. thatd be a good move. 😀 i love joseph, and i have loved him since he was in 3rd rock from the sun. he is a great actor and i cant wait to see him in inception. it would be nice to see him in the new batman as well 😀
