Julia Roberts blamed in sister’s suicide note

By Tribute News on July 3, 2014 | 19 Comments

Julia Roberts' half-sister claimed the Pretty Woman star and her siblings ''drove her'' to depression. Production assistant Nancy Motes died of an overdose in February and her suicide note has been made public for the first time. In it she said her mother Betty, Julia, actor Eric Roberts and actress Lisa Roberts Gillan deserved ''nothing'' because of the way they treated her. The note, which has been obtained by MailOnline, begins by saying Nancy's fiancé John Dilbeck can have ''whatever he wants'' of her possessions, including their dog Lucy. It continued: ''My mother and so-called 'siblings' get nothing except the memory that they are the ones that drove me into the deepest depression I've ever been in. I have suffered thru this disease all my life, however It has never been this bad. I burst into tears every morning b/c I woke up."

The note was filed in court papers in relation to probate of Nancy's estate and has three specific sections, one addressed to John, another to her mother and Julia, and a third addressed to ''everyone.'' However, the section addressed to Betty and the 46-year-old actress has not been made public as it isn't in the court file and under Californian law, the Los Angeles County Coroner is only obliged to give the pages to the person to whom they are addressed. John - who found Nancy's body - has added his note, which sees him praised as her ''one true love'' and begged for forgiveness by the Glee assistant, who described herself as ''nothing but a junky.'' She wrote: ''I know this will effect you the most and & I can't apologize enough. I was truly blessed & lucky to have you as my true love and best friend. I will carry you with me forever.... And I am so sorry.'' Nancy had a rocky relationship with her famous sibling, and before her death lashed out at her on Twitter. She wrote: ''Just so you all know, America's Sweetheart is a b***** Do you want to be a fan of someone so cruel? She's not even that good of an actress. Happy you totally f***** me''.

She has made her self sound completely delusional and supremely selfish! More than likely wanted to be supported in every way by her family, without having to do the work!

She sounds like she was deeply disturbed. It’s not right to blame others for your problems. We all have to make our own way in life, famous half-siblings or not.

She sounds very sound of mind: ” She’s not even that good of an actress.” <= Truer statement has yet to be done.

Re: Clare–Typical of someone to call a deeply depressed person “selfish.” What’s selfish is expecting someone who experiences daily pain to think of others first.

We only see Julia Roberts’ persona, not the real person. Keep in mind Roberts had a long line of high-profile relationships, two broken engagements, and a brief marriage before she married her present husband, who was already married when she met him. He left his wife for her.

Despite David Letterman adoring her, I don’t think she’s that great of a person–but who really knows.

I HONESTLY FEEL THAT WE CANNOT MAKE THAT CALL…FOR MANY DIFFERENT REASONS! FIRSTHAND, WE DONT KNOW THE WHOLE STORY OR THE PERSONS INVOLVED.. ON TOP OF THAT..AS HUMAN ERROR..IT’S A THIN LINE BETWEEN OPINION AND JUDGEMENT…ALOT ARE VERY JUDGEMENTAL IN ANY GIVEN SITUATION. LET US REMEMBER THAT, BEFORE WE DECIDE TO SPEAK ON IT…..YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF IN THOSE SHOES! HONESTLY I WOULD HAVE TO BE IN THAT SITUATION IN ORDER TO SPEAK ON IT! GOD BLESS THE ROBERTS STILL!

People can be cruel Ms. Roberts appears to be going through a grieving period all people do not act the same emotionally wise or vice verse. Whatever transpired between her and her sister is entirely their business and will be taken to grave. I hope for Ms. Roberts sake she can get the theraphy she needs to help her throw this crisis period in her life. It is a hurled but there are many season that it will take time, understanding and acceptance of self to get over. It is ok to be angery at someone who took their life or who dead to soon. But in truth she was called it was just her time and there is absolutely nothing that could had been done to save her. Yet some may feel that there was. People die that is part of life we have no control over. Again, I hope Ms. Roberts get her life back together. She is a beautiful women and since this tragic she looks to aged overnight. She has to remember her children need wise cracking loving wonderful mom back.

suicide is the cruelest of all actions. I too hope the family will gather their strength and be able to move forward. The sister was obviously depressed and was self medicating with drugs. We don’t know what efforts her family made to help her stop using and it is also hard to judge someone for what is being said from the grave. She was able to have the last word and no one will ever be able to help or make changes with her. So very tragic for the sister and her family

That’s life in the big city.

I have had a loved one attempt suicide in recent years. I was charged by that person to distribute 2 videos, one to each of his children (then: 3 and 10 years old) and one video to watch that was made for me. A video “note”. I will NEVER be able to forget those images of him in what I recall to be his intended final day, or those words spoken to his children and to myself. I am grateful and thankful that his life was spared due to my being able to alert someone and get him medical intervention in the nick of time. I was on the phone with him in his intended final minutes. The pain of that day, and the months following will never be forgotten.

What I have to say on this topic is the following: I was blamed, by everyone, for his intended life ending actions. I suffer from PTSD in direct relation to this “event”. Suicide, by psychiatric definition, is the most selfish act that any one human being can take. It is this way because while they die and leave this life, all who know them and especially those that love them are left to do exactly what this family is doing; Suffer, wonder, feel guilty and endlessly grieve the loss of life. Nobody knows what is “true” here other than the fact that a family, no matter their celebrity status, is mourning a loss of one of their own.

Please try to put yourselves in their shoes and stop speculating on the whys and what-fors. I promise you it will do no one any good, and in the end only draw out the grieving process longer (as if that’s even possible – it never ends).

Shari Marie, I am in total agreement with you, I couldn’t have stated it better myself.

It is selfish for someone to take their own life but she is no longer here to defend her actions. This letter was that chance for her to tell the ones she loved goodbye and explain herself. It is between her and her family. They know what she was talking about. Plus anyone who has a family member struggling with depression is going to do what they can for them as long as they can. FYI most of you should actually research things and learn what the facts are before you form an opinion. Any one who keeps up with Julia Robert’s personal life knows she is a bitch. Watch more that the 30 seconds of the interview they show on TV and you will learn most celebrities are not who they portray themselves to be.

She spoke the truth about Julia…Her big mouth and I mean physcially speaking is such a turn off. And her laugh is like fingernails on a chalkboard.

  14. Lee • August 28, 2014 @ 7:37 PM

Frank.. so what makes you the expert? Whether you like Julia or not, is irrelevant. Her sister obviously had some major problems, and took the easy way out, by blaming everyone in the family for all of those problems. Who knows if it wasn’t life long jealousy of Julia, that is behind these problems and depression. I am familiar with people suffering depression, lived with someone who suffered with it, for over 30 years, and often tried to end it all, for most of that time.. never actually succeeding. Mostly contributed by his own lack of self confidence, and self worth, and blaming everyone else for the fact that he was just unhappy with himself, and life in general, but would never do anything to try and improve himself, or his situation. Nothing anyone did, helped in any way, he believed his own version of things, and nothing anyone said could change that. Jealousy and feelings of being inadequate, not only ruined his life, but everyone around him. He passed away way too early, of cancer.. possibly brought on by a very unhappy life, and never feeling good about anything. I was blamed by his family, for all his unhappiness, and ultimately getting cancer, but I decided not to wear that anymore.. Done!!!

It is true that you never know what is inside a persons head or what drives them to do what they think they have to do. My son committed suicide and sometimes you don’t see it coming and you try to blame yourself. thinking there was something you could have done to stop it. You just have to work through it and try to go on. As they say: one step at a time.

  16. Ash • August 28, 2014 @ 10:14 PM

I have a friend who attempt to suicide by jumping from 3rd level of her apartment in front of her BF. She’s not dead but just suffered some broken bones, BUT her BF got heart attack and stroke after watched the crazy moment. Now he’s laying on his bad like a living corpse. Well, yeah right..people who think of suicide is DAMN SELFISH!!!!!!!!!

  17. Chris • August 29, 2014 @ 7:14 AM

While it’s not easy to be a sibling of famous people, it is your duty to find your own path in life. Long term jealousy and bitterness leads to stuffs like this. She’s just trying to do in death what all her rants and raves and bitter ill-wishes against her popular “American Sweetheart” half sibling could not do while living: hurt and destroy. Remember she blamed her mother, too. If Julia is so evil she drove her sib to suicide, the mother too?
Please, even without the selfish dearly departed spelling it out, her family members are bound to blame themselves. Yet, she made damn sure they get blamed for her actions.
Well, maybe in death she would learn the lesson people like Solange are living with every day and making the best of: it sucks to be the ugly duckling, the runt of the litter. It’s your duty to find your own happy place in life.

God bless Julia Roberts May she find Peace in her family.

If you can’t even take the time to help your sister than what kind of human being are you. It’s not about money….it’s about decency. Julia, if the shame fits….then, wear it well!!
