Kevin Bacon tweets after watching Footloose remake

Kevin Bacon went to a screening of Footloose yesterday afternoon and tweeted about it, posting a photo of his ticket stub. The remake stars newcomer Kenny Wormald as Ren, the part Kevin originated in the 1984 Footloose. “F-Loose!” Bacon wrote on Twitter. “Just saw it. Congrats to Craig, Kenny, Julianne, Dennis, Andie, Miles, and the rest of the cast. U guys rocked it!” Wormald tweeted back, “Thank you!!! @kevinbacon – your my favorite Ren.” Bacon was originally asked to do a cameo in the new film, but turned it down. “Kevin was wise in saying no to it,” director Craig Brewer told E!Online. “I think he had the right reason for it. I think that he knew it would cheapen it somehow because if suddenly he showed up winking at the camera, it would have taken some of the teeth out of the narrative.”

Movie prices are dependent on where you live and what theatre you go to. Wellington 8 here in London is $8.99 a ticket.

I love that he saw it at a regular screen, instead of having some private thing set up.

Mr. Brewer is wrong in my opinion. The only reason I would go see it is becoz Mr. Bacon was in it!! I dont think it would have cheapened it at all, not one bit, if he appeared in it. I think it would have built an important connection between the past and present and added to it! Even if he would have been the father if one of the Cast members!! Keeping it separate like that may not appeal to the People who Might /might Not pay for the movie ticket. Thus if Mr. Bacon was in it maybe you would have made More $$$$$$. I know if I wanted to see it my roommate would’ve gone to see it, and he might have told his 2 friends about it, and they might have gone to see it.

Good for Bacon. And good for him not doing a cameo. I have not seen this version but mostly because I’m trying to stick to my golden rule about liking only the originals. If I like them I will only see the originals. If I didn’t like the original then I will not see the remake either way.
