King’s Speech big BAFTA winner

The King’s Speech, starring Colin Firth, was the big winner at yesterdays BAFTA awards, winning seven awards in total, including Best Film and Best British Film. Firth took home Best Actor as expected, while his co-stars, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham-Carter won in the Supporting categories. As expected, Natalie Portman won Best Actress for Black Swan, but didn’t fly to London to attend the ceremony because of her pregnancy. Firth and Portman are expected to take home Oscars for their roles as well later this month. The Social Network won Best Director, Adapted Screenplay and Film Editing. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo won for Best Film not in the English Language, while True Grit won for Cinematography. The Harry Potter film series won a well-deserved special award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema, and although Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, was absent because he’s in New York rehearsing for his Broadway musical How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, author J.K Rowling, producer David Heyman and stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were on hand to accept the prestigious honor.

The Lost City, starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, is a lighthearted romantic adventure that is sure to make you both laugh and swoon.
This wasn’t shown on TV here, I would’ve liked to watch it, the Brits have such a great sense of humour so it was probably pretty entertaining.
