Kings Speech, True Grit lead Oscar nominations

The nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards were announced this morning live from Los Angeles and The King’s Speech is the leader with 12 nods, including Best Picture and a Best Actor nomination for Colin Firth. True Grit is close behind with 10 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress for 14-year-old Hailee Steinfeld‘s remarkable performance, and Best Actor for Jeff Bridges in the role that won John Wayne an Oscar for the original 1969 adaptation of the novel by Charles Portis. The Social Network, which won four Golden Globes including Best Drama, has eight nominations, including Best Picture. The 83rd Academy Awards will be broadcast live on February 27, 2011.
