The Grammy Awards just got a little cooler. For the first time in seven years, the prestigious show will have a host. Rapper/actor LL Cool J has officially signed on to host the 54th Annual Grammy Awards to be held on February 12, 2012 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. A two-time Grammy winner himself, LL Cool J couldn’t be happier about leading what is arguably one of the most revered award shows in the music industry. “I’m thrilled to be a part of music’s biggest night,” he said in a statement. “I will always have fond memories of my first Grammy Awards and to now be hosting the Grammy show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true. Great performances and great music—it’s going to be a great night.”

LL Cool J is no newbie when it comes to the job. He’s been the host of the pre-show concert, “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! – Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night”, every year since it started in 2008. He currently stars on the CBS television series NCIS: Los Angeles.
