George LucasIn an interview with Foxnews.com’s Roger Friedman, Star Wars creator George Lucas called Spider-Man 3 a “silly movie.” He went on to say, “Once you take it all apart, there’s not much story, is there?”

Lucas said that although Star Wars was also criticized for being silly, he says, “It wasn’t.”

I was a huge Spiderman fan when I was a kid….I don’t think I would have been impressed by any of the three Spiderman movies even when I was a kid and Spiderman was my favorite Superhero…..they all seem to be love stories instead of the crime fighting that its supposed to be about….I couldn’t even name the girlfreind from reading the comics and the series….she was an incidental in the story or I wouldn’t have read them comic. Unless its been so long that I have remembered the story lines wrong.

Lucas is a n00b! His last three Star Wars movies were huge disappointments. He shouldn’t criticize others, when his own movies were very “silly” at times. He lucked out on Star Wars Episode 4, then with Empire and Jedi he did good by leaving the directing to someone else. I believe the only reason he directed Episodes 1, 2, and 3 was to prove that he hadn’t lost his touch – but unfortunately he lost it in the early 80s.

Spiderman 3 was the best of the series so far. And definately was better than Starwars 3.

Luc”ass” is what I would call him. I love his comment about Star Wars not being silly “It wasn’t” what is that nice comeback. Watching Ep.1,2,3 was a joke. I agree he is just hating on Spiderman becuase it made such a huge and I mean huge opening!

Spiderman 1 was awful and SM2 was okay. Pretty much EVERYONE is saying Spiderman 3 either sucks or is the worst of the 3 so I’m definately skipping SM3$.

If you have read the reviews in the paper or almost anywhere, you sure to see how people thought it was silly. I absoluly loved the movie but i agreed with Mr.Lucas on this one. There were times it just didnt seem to take itself seriouly. The producer but Sam Raimi in a tight spot telling him to wrap up all loss ends with 5 main characters in a 2 hour time slot. Just cause you though that the story was too quick and the love hate relationships were not as well developed, does not mean that you can not enjoy how much awsome Venom, Sandman, and other action there is in the movie. PS. Gorge Lucas beats Raimi anyday, i mean have you not seen army of darkness? Whos bright idea was it to not let James Cameron make the spider-man movie, like he had been asking for years. Ramai got a free ride, Just like Paris Hilton, it was givin not earned. Almost no one knew SAm till he made spider-man. Through all this i still think the movie is great, just could have been better. And Starwars 1-3 ROCKED!!

Spiderman 3 sucked. It was just special effects. I would go further and say that a lot of movies today follow a formula that is closer to a video game format.

Basically, you have a task you have some objectives, no plot, no charachter development and no passion. Just a singular focus to achieve a goal. Look at Mission Improbable 3 or any of those lame blockbusters.

It’s kinda hard to compare Spiderman with Star Wars- both have their strengths and weaknesses. But in my opinion both Star Wars episode 1 and Spiderman 1 were not really that well done. Star Wars 1 was more for a kids audience and in spiderman 1 there was too many glitches in the storyline. As for a storyline star wars definitely has way more of a story with telling how Anakin becomes Vader and all spiderman is is peter parker getting bit by a spider and then becoming a superhero. However still being a fan of both movies I still have to say that star wars is much better.

I agree with Mr. Lucas, what a disappointment Spiderman 3 was, was spiderman really dancing and pointing at the girls, the writers should have their pens broken and the director and producers should do musicals in New York, They had two of the greatest villians to work with and they were hardly shown at all, I can’t believe they screwed up so much, all the hype is the only thing selling the movie, once people see it they will realize what a horrible movie it is, the kids will like it because they don’t know any different, but the adults like myself found it unbearable, please no more spiderman movies if they are going to be this bad, i can’t take the disappointment anymore. All I could thing about when i was watching this poor excuse for a movie was when is it going to end.

He hasn’t got a right to say that, when all of his SW films were far ‘siller’. I couldn’t sit through them. Ugh.

FACT -Star Wars is GAY! Spider-Man is NOT!

5 main characters in a 2 hour time slot is hard to develop. Then you have the love story with Mary Jane [always central to the Spiderman plot, as say to, Archie comics.]

Then there is the personal twist of fate with his best friend. All in all it was good, not necessarily great. But if good is good enough for God, then is it not for all . . .
