Madagascar 3 wins top spot at weekend box office

The animated family flick Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted won the box office this past weekend with an estimated $60.3 million and a 3 star (out of 5 stars) rating at Tribute.ca. The new sci-fi themed Prometheus, starring Charlize Theron, debuted in second place, taking in an even $50 million. Tribute.ca viewers gave it a 3.7 star rating. Last weekend’s top movie, Snow White & the Huntsman, also starring Charlize Theron along with Kristen Stewart, dropped to third place, earning an additional $23 million and 4 stars from Tribute viewers. Men in Black 3 wound up in fourth place, earning 4 stars and taking in an extra $13.5 million. The Avengers rounded out the top five with $10.8 million for a domestic total of $572 million.
