Mark Hamill ‘doesn’t care’ about new Star Wars films

, who returned to his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and last year’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, says he’s doesn’t care anymore about future Star Wars films.
He signed on to reprise his role in the sequels, alongside original Star Wars co-stars Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, but he told ABC News that the death of Han Solo in The Force Awakens and Carrie Fisher’s passing after The Last Jedi have “tarnished” his ability to enjoy the recent movies.
There have been rumors that Luke could return for the next movie as a Force “ghost” like Yoda, but Mark clarified, “You were asking earlier, ‘Are you gonna come back?’ I don’t care anymore, on that level, because Han Solo is gone, Luke is gone. You just can’t get the band back together the way you wanted it to be, and it shouldn’t be that way.”
However, he said of Carrie Fisher, “Rather than being sorry that we can’t have more of her, I’m just grateful that we had the time with her that we did.”
The next installment in the Star Wars movies, which is in pre-production and doesn’t yet have a title, will be directed by J.J. Abrams. It won’t hit theaters until December 2019 but in the meantime, Solo: A Star Wars Story, directed by Ron Howard, releases nationwide on May 29, 2018. ~Alexandra Heilbron

He shouldn’t care about this crap – good for him.
I agree with him. The new films just didn’t carry the impact of the originals. I think we all wanted to see, at least one last time, the original crew go out in style with a bang. Instead, they all went out with a whimper. I don’t think they could have given Luke Skywalker a more ignominious death than they did.
I agree with him. The originality of the first instalment from 1977-1983 is gone. I have enjoyed the newest movies but they can never capture the energy and creativity of the first three films again.

Honestly – my STAR WARS ended with Episode 6.
It is very comprehensive that Mark reacts like this as he was part of the original 3 movies then Lucas did the Prequels too rapidly which he regrets as he used technology which made the movie look less realistic and skipped many important details .then Disney took the franchise used same movie effects of the original 3 which was good but the story script is not the greatest and empire doesn’t frightened us all as Darth Vador effect had on us all but That’s Disney’s mark of commerce which will have to accept unless Lucas gets to rewrite the new movies
It is being milked to death and just will NEVER be as good as the original movies. Too much graphics and unrealistic looking situations. Needs to be done with. Mark, I am sure, has more important things in his life…..he had HIS time, at the best of times and like everything else today……will never compete with the originals.
Please, no more Star Wars. The Last Jedi was a bore!!! CGI to the max, nothing for character development. The least believable character in “The Last Jedi” was Mark Hamill

Very disappointing.
I completely understand why he would feel that way. Personally, I loved The Force Awakens and Rogue One, and enjoyed The Last Jedi. As somebody who has been a Star Wars nerd since seeing The Empire Strikes back in theaters, I was worried about Disney ruining things. The moment the first scene began, I was excited because it actually looked like a proper Star Wars movies, as opposed to the total CGI-fest that was the prequels. I think going forward, they should leave Han, Leia, and Luke in the past, and use the new characters to build a new story of their own.
Unfortunately, Disney has something like 19 projects, TV, movies, cartoons, etc. planned over the next three years. At this point, that sounds going to milk as much out of the franchise as they can, so I expect the quality to start dropping really soon.
Wow completely unbelievable
Part of the reason the new movies haven’t “captured the magic” is that Disney-Star Wars has not learned the lessons of Disney-Marvel. Prior to the MCU, superhero flicks were limited to the retelling of a few heroes’ origin stories over and over and over again. How many times did we have to see Peter Parker’s uncle die and him get bitten by a radioactive spider?
MCU not only introduced a plethora of new characters but also the idea of R-Rated superhero movies, Comedy-action superhero movies etc.
The expanded Star Wars universe has so much potential, particularly, in all of the source material that Disney decided was no longer canon.
How about a gothic Star Wars movie centred on a planet of dark-force witches that enslave their men? How about exploring the origin of the rule of two via the Darth Bane story? So much potential! Shame the last two movies have really just been built around plot points heavily borrowed from the initial trilogy.
“The Force Awakens” was not very good. But “The Last Jedi” was just horrible. I’ve seen “B” science fiction low-budget movies that had a FAR, FAR better story than that awful thing. There is nothing left for “episode 9” to do. Everyone who was half-way interesting is dead. This is going to be like a sequel to “Batman and Robin”. Who wants a sequel to a terrible movie?
Once Disney got a hold of it, the quality went out the window. Re-inventing Dath Vader was the most stupid story line. Luke having so much potential as the new Jedi Master of bring the Jedi back into the balance as training Jedi and taking Yoda’s place. Why did they give Luke such a lame part? I have always heard that the story line was supposed to be as “The Dark Hand” who shadowed in the back ground of Dark Sidius appears and Luke turns to the dark side to fight him, then Leia must train to become a Jedi to try to save Luke. I wonder if they will do a movie about the dark side before Papitine takes control? “Rogue One” was far, far better than the New Star Wars movies for sure. I know the next one is going to be a very big let down!
After the Return of the Jedi there were 63 books that followed the main characters of Luke Skywalker, Leia solo Han Solo Chewbacca and a few more characters. All of these books with the exception of one where excellent books to make movies from that’s almost a hundred years worth of movies 1.8 trillion dollars just sitting there. And in the books it is Chewbacca that dies not Han Solo and Han and Leia has three children Jason and Jaina which are twins and then Anakin which is the youngest. Anakin dies in a war saving his friends Jason does turn to the dark side and is killed by his sister Jaina but not before killing Luke Skywalker’s wife Mara Jade which was the right hand of the emperor. If you choose to read them you will not be disappointed throughout all those books the characters maintain their integrity their characteristics mannerisms so that you didn’t have Luke Skywalker being a Jedi that could tear apart worlds and one book and then couldn’t lift up a pin in the other book
For me, the only genuine Star Wars movies are Episodes 1-6, because George Lucas wrote and directed them. I liked “Rogue One” too because I believe it stayed true to the franchise without going too over the top, and I love the backstory it told. I wonder how Episodes 7 & 8 would have been if he wrote and directed them as well? Maybe one day we’ll find out. I would love to see those!
