Martin Short named as Canada’s Got Talent judge

Hamilton-born Martin Short has been named as the first judge for the new show Canada’s Got Talent, a Canadian version of the show Britain’s Got Talent (there’s also an American version). The other two judges and the host are expected to be named within the coming next week. During an interview with The Globe and Mail, Short said, “I’ve been doing this a long time and I’ve certainly been on both sides of the table. I’ve auditioned myself and I’ve auditioned people for movies and plays and musicals that I’ve produced or written. It takes a lot of nerve to get up on that stage.” Although known primarily as a comedian and actor, Short sings as well, having gotten his big break in 1972 when he was cast in the musical Godspell at Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre. He also won a 1999 Tony award for his role in the revival of the musical Little Me on Broadway. Canada’s Got Talent debuts in March 2012 on Citytv.

His men’s synchronized swimming skit with Harry Shearer is classic.

Good. A real Canadian with actual talent. This should be interesting. And have Howie come back up here to do this version too. Then we have 2 actual Canadians. THEN let’s get an American. After all it’s only fair cause on AMGT they have 2 Brits and 1 Canadian on their judge panel. Lol, they might be feeling left out of judging the talent competitions.

Yay for him! Although, I probably wont watch it, only because my ex-frenemie auditioned and didnt get in and also I have to much to watch. Great for him though!
