Matthew Morrison: Adele needs new material

By Tribute on June 2, 2012 | 4 Comments

Matthew Morrison demands new songs! The Glee actor wants Adele to write new material so she can be featured on the hit television series once again. Already, the show has covered most of her current hit singles including Rumour Has It, Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You and Turning Tables. The What to Expect When You’re Expecting star explained why he doesn’t think the British phenomenon will ever appear on the popular U.S. series in person. “I don’t think Adele is doing much of anything these days, except hanging out with her boyfriend. I think we covered every single Adele song so she has to come up with some new material,” Morrison said in an interview with Australian radio show Kyle and Jackie O. “It’s a tough call [to say who my favorite guest star is] but just because I worked with her so personally I think I’d have to say Gwyneth Paltrow. She was incredible; her character was so funny and so great but her in general, she is just the most down to earth, coolest woman you’ll ever meet.” ~Graeme Mollison

Adele deserves a break now and then, just like everybody else.

I love how this guy wants new material from a certain performer just so his show can continue doing covers and ripping other performers material off. Here’s a thought Glee, try being original.

God, give the girl a break Matt. I remember her saying in an interview that she wanted to take 3 to 4 years off so that she can get married and start a family. Let her do that and be happy! Glee doesn’t need to rip off any of her songs. I’ve heard their covers of her songs, and let me tell you while they did justice to their Rumor Has It/Someone Like You mash-up, they ruined Turning Tables and Rolling In The Deep. Adele deserves better than that crap from Glee, so Matt, take it from a wavering Gleek, be original or pack your sheet music and your microphones and wait for the show to get cancelled.

I must disagree. While Gwyneth Paltrow’s version of Turning Tables isn’t as good as Adele’s (how could it be) I would hardly say she “ruined” in. It was quite good for a cover. Also, their version of Rolling in the Deep was a faithful cover of the John Legend version and a pretty good one at that.
