Michael Fassbender, the star of last year’s highly promising drama Shame, was hoping to receive an Oscar for his role as Brandon Sullivan. However, fans and Fassbender were surprised to hear he didn’t even receive a nomination for best actor, despite the raves he got from movie critics. “Yes, I admit: I hoped to win the Oscar [for Shame]. At the beginning I didn’t even think about that possibility, but then, with all the people talking about it, I had some expectations,” said the 35-year-old actor to Vanity Fair Italy. The scandalous film features nude scenes with the German hunk, but Fassbender wasn’t at all sure about showing the audience his birthday suit mostly because of his parents. “My mother saw Shame and told me that it was hard for her to watch all that pain,” said Fassbender. “And I understand her because I saw the film for the first time in Venice [at the Italian film festival] and think I need to take some time to watch it again.” ~Graeme Mollison

It’s the end of an era in comic book films as Fox’s X-Men franchise comes to a somber close with the 12th entry, Dark Phoenix, from director Simon Kinberg.
kind of refreshing to hear a little truth instead of the usual “oh i dont care if i win something or not” routine, eh? coolest.android.ever.(prometheus)
^This. If you dont care whether u win or lose, then why the hell do you audition for something or submit yourself into an awards thing? Just being honest. But hey, maybe he’ll be nominated for Prometheus? Apparently he was really good, so he has a chance of at least getting in 🙂
Olive Maybe just maybe actors/actresses just Want to act in movies and then get paid a cheque like everyone else. Maybe they don’t want an oscar. Did you ever think of that?? Theres nothing wrong in not wanting an oscar.
So rita, following your logic, it’s ok for a neurosurgeon to go into the operating room and do a complex surgery just cuz they want their cheque? I’m operating on the assumption that most of the people in Hollywood are there because acting or showbusiness is their chosen career. If they take no pride in their work, why do it?
Match point and win: Red! 🙂
