Miley Cyrus’ peers defend her raunchy VMA performance

By Tribute on August 27, 2013 | 6 Comments

Miley Cyrus‘s supporters have come to the defense of the 20-year-old’s provocative performance of “We Can’t Stop” and “Blurred Lines” alongside Robin Thicke at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards. Fellow Disney Channel graduate Selena Gomez raved to Us Weekly about the duo’s number. “Amazing. I thought it was awesome,” said Selena. “I like Robin Thicke too, so I like that they collaborated. I thought that was good.” Singer Adam Lambert, whose same-sex kiss at the 2009 American Music Awards caused similar controversy, also defended the former Hannah Montana star. He tweeted, “And listen if it wasn’t ur cup of tea— all good but why is everyone spazzing? Hey – she’s doin something right. We all talkin.” Adam later added, “Hold up! I didn’t actually state whether or not I liked @MileyCyrus performance. I merely said she was having fun and to cut her some slack.” However, fellow American Idol alum Kelly Clarkson was a lot more critical. Kelly tweeted: “Just saw a couple performances from the VMA’s last night. 2 words…. #pitchystrippers.”~Alfonso Espina

I didn’t want to comment until I saw what the fuss was about. I thought it was not that bad. It was not classy, but really, is she meant to be classy? I saw posts about people comparing her to Ga Ga and others. When Elvis shook his hips the world went nuts and others condemned him. Madonna sang like a Virgin and ws on the floor on her back and it shocked the world. Brittany and Madonna kissing omg. And others have danced worse than Miley. It will be considered gross by some and a classic moment by others. I’m impartial now. Don’t care one way or another.

Good for Miley! She did what she had to do to keep her name in the headlines a little longer.

First off the former “Hannah Montana” star used to be looked up to by millions of little girls, and I think her behavior at the VMA’s was absolutely HORRIFYING !!!!!!!! Little girls that love the “Hannah Montana” star and now they look up to former “Stripper”. But here’s a question “What happened to the all American ,blonde hair blue eyed sweet girl? And what will happen to her career? Will it fly through time or will it drop like dust?

miley and her dad are stupid and stupider ! why doesn’t she just go into PIG-movies ? she could do what she wants and make money at it to boot ? this will save US from her B.S. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn’t care for her performance personally, one in a very long line of crotch grabber artists and exhibitionists aka Gaga, but thinking the buzz about it way too much….as for Woman of the World Gomez, she taking the unpopular complimentary stance I feel, to garnish some headlines herself. Miley was right about her comment re volume of tweets, for sure, it is a smart performer who latches onto the mega publicity, good or bad no matter, as long as people remember your name…

Alice on August 28, 2013 9:16 AM those “little girls” who watched miley on hannah montana should now be old enough to know that people dont stay, and act like, little girls forever. its her choice how to live her life, and im glad to see she isnt giving up who she feels she is just because some whiners will have something to say.
