Monsters University scares off zombies at box office

The animated family film Monsters University debuted in first place with an estimated $82 million and 4.5 out of 5 stars at Tribute.ca, beating not only zombies but Brad Pitt in World War Z and knocking Man of Steel into third place. Brad Pitt’s zombie movie World War Z, which cost an estimated $400 million to make, debuted in second place, earning $66 million and 4 stars. Man of Steel, which had the second biggest opening of the year last weekend, moved from the top spot to third, taking in an additional $41.2 million and retaining its 4 star rating. The apocalyptic buddy comedy This is the End moved from second to fourth place, earning an additional $13 million and dropping half a star from last week to 3.5 stars. Rounding out the top five was Now You See Me, about four magicians who pull off heists as part of their stage show, taking in an additional $7.9 million and holding on to its 4 star rating. Rounding out the top ten: Fast & Furious 6, The Internship, The Purge, Star Trek Into Darkness and Iron Man 3.

    Kids win! Too bad for Superman, I tried to keep it in first place by watching it a couple times lol.

    Kids movie almost always win. Lots of people want movies to take their kids to. Plus, a lot of adults like the Monsters movies.
