Fans of the Harry Potter franchise will be happy to hear that two new books about everyone’s favorite wizarding world will be released this October.
The first book, Harry Potter: A History of Magic, will contain original drafts of the Harry Potter books written by J.K. Rowling as well as a series of essays written by other authors. The second book, Harry Potter – A Journey Through A History of Magic, will take readers through the history of magic taught at Hogwarts.
Unfortunately, the books are not written by J.K. Rowling, but are being released in conjunction with the British Library’s Harry Potter exhibition, A History of Magic, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
U.K. publisher Bloomsbury will publish the books on October 20th. While it isn’t clear yet whether the books will be available outside of Britain, they will be published in a digital format to J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore website (www.pottermore.com).
Scholastic publishes the Harry Potter series in North America and has yet to confirm whether these two books will be available in print in the U.S. and Canada, but considering the wild popularity of anything to do with The Boy Who Lived, there’s a good chance North American readers will eventually be able to get their hands on copies of the two new publications.

Oh…joy.
Sad that these are not written by JK Rowling. But I would still love to read them. Will they be on Kindle e-books I wonder.
