New on DVD and Blu-ray: Yesterday, Child’s Play and more

Yesterday on Blu-ray and DVDOne of the biggest hit movies of the summer is coming out today on Blu-ray and DVD: Yesterday, starring Lily James and Himesh Patel. Also available today are three more films: the horror movie Child’s Play, the action comedy Shaft and the straight-to-DVD release The First King. Yesterday – After another failed gig, musician Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) tells his childhood friend and manager (Lily James) that he wants to quit music. However, after he’s hit by a bus during a global blackout, Jack awakes to a world where no one else remembers The Beatles. Taking advantage of this, Jack goes on to gain fame by becoming his generation’s newest and greatest songwriter. Child’s Play – Trying to adjust to life in a new city and no friends, Andy is given the latest toy doll Buddi by his mom. Giving him the new name Chucky, everything seems to be fine until a series of grisly murders is committed. Andy suspects the culprit is his toy doll Chucky (voiced by Mark Hamill) and attempts to convince his mom Karen (Aubrey Plaza) and Detective Mike Norris (Brian Tyree Henry), but neither believe him.

Shaft – When his best friend dies under mysterious circumstances, John Shaft Jr. (Jessie T. Usher) must turn to his father John Shaft II (Samuel L. Jackson) to help uncover the truth.
