New on DVD: Kingsman: The Secret Service, The DUFF and more

The DUFFThis week coming to Blu-ray and DVD are a few great movies worth a night in, including Kingsman: The Secret Service, The DUFF and Project Almanac.

Gary “Eggsy” Unwin (Taron Egerton) is a delinquent street punk whose father passed away when he was young. He is recruited by Harry Hart/Galahad (Colin Firth) to join the Kingsman, a group of fine upstanding gentlemen who are also spies, to protect England and the world from wrongdoers. Eggsy will be tested to his limits to make sure he has the right personality for joining the organization. They must work to stop Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson), a billionaire trying to bring free cell phone and internet service to every person in the world, but his intentions are not what they seem to be.

When Bianca (Mae Whitman) learns that she is known to be the DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) of her friends she is devastated. Instead of being broken up over it she decides to do what is best and overthrow her friend Bianca (Bella Thorne) as the hot girl in the group. With the help of Wes (Robbie Amell), she takes on the challenge and attempts to shed the label of the DUFF.

Aspiring MIT student David (Jonny Weston) stumbles onto a video camera that has footage of his seventh birthday. Things get complicated when he watches the video and sees his adult self in a reflection in the mirror. He recruits his friends for help to figure out why he is in the video and stumbles on to a time machine that his late father was building. Now he must finish the time machine and see what happens when you go in and alter the past.

In 1929, when the Great Depression hit, George (Bradley Cooper) and his wife Serena (Jennifer Lawrence) moved to North Carolina to build a timber empire. When George finds out he’s running out of money, Serena begins to feel betrayed. Thing start to go awry and the world seems as if it is coming down around George. Serena is a movie that will keep you guessing.

Red Army is the true story of the fall of the communist influence on Russian professional ice hockey. This film focuses on Slava Fetisov, one of their greatest hockey players, who paved the way for players to change their circumstances. In this fascinating documentary you get a look inside the life and story of the oppressed hockey player and his struggle for freedom.

88 is the story of a woman named Gwen (Katherine Isabelle), who witnesses her boyfriend’s murder. She shows up in a diner with no recollection of how she got there. The police pick her up for murder and she must put the pieces back together to find her lover’s killer, Cyrus (Christopher Lloyd), and get revenge for her loss.
