New releases this week: The Age of Adaline, Ex Machina and more!

The Age of AdalineIf you’re thinking about going to a movie this weekend, you are bound to catch a good flick. Whether you are looking for a good drama, romance or sci-fi, you have a great selection of new releases to choose from.

Debuting this week is the drama romance The Age of Adaline. Following a near fatal car crash at age 29, Adaline (Blake Lively) magically stops aging. She keeps her condition a secret, causing her to change locations and run throughout her life, until she meets a man (Michiel Huisman) who has a big impact on her world. Click here for showtimes.

Opening this week in Toronto and Vancouver is Ex Machina. Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson) is a programmer who is sent to do a routine check on Nathan’s (Oscar Isaac) experiment on artificial intelligence. The check up turns shady when Caleb forms a relationship with artificial intelligence Ava (Alicia Vikander) and starts to doubt whether he is there to check on the experiment or if he is part of it. The Forger comes out in theatres this week in Toronto, Montreal and on VOD. The world’s best art forger (John Travolta) sparks a deal to get himself out of jail sooner. He must pull off an elaborate heist and teams up with his father (Christopher Plummer) and son (Tye Sheridan). Click here for showtimes.

The Water Diviner hits theatres in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. An Australian farmer (Russell Crowe) goes on a journey to Turkey to try and find his three sons who were reported missing four years earlier, after they fought in the battle of Gallipoli in World War I. Click for showtimes here.

The Salvation is a new drama premiering in Toronto and Montreal this week. Jon (Mads Mikkelsen) is a settler in the 1870s who seeks revenge after his wife and son are murdered. After getting revenge on the people who did the crime, Jon is wanted by sadistic gang leader Delarue (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and must fight the outlaws trying to kill him. Find the showtimes here.

Premiering in Toronto this week is Lost River. Directed and written by Ryan Gosling, a single mother of two (Christina Hendricks) tries to raise her children in a deserted city, Lost River. She wants to raise them in their childhood home and descends into the dark underworld trying to do so. Her eldest son tries to uncover the mystery behind their abandoned city.
