Nick JonasNick Jonas, 22, is keeping busy lately with the recent release of his self-titled solo album and starring in DirecTV’s Kingdom, but it wasn’t easy getting there. In an interview with Yahoo! Style, Nick discussed his journey from Disney star to being taken seriously as an artist. After leaving the Jonas Brothers behind roughly a year ago, Nick commented on the struggles of escaping his Disney brand, saying, “The bias toward Disney in particular, and younger acts there, you can’t ignore it.” He then described his method to transitioning, which draws to mind another Disney alum, Miley Cyrus, whose shock factor has been a large part of her image change. “I’m trying to keep it focused on the work and the craft and less about shock and other ways of letting people know who you are or what you’re comfortable with,” he explained. “I think the challenge that I faced was in just giving people a reason to give me a second look.” ~Janine Wyslobicky
