OuijaThis Halloween weekend it seems audiences were in the mood for something scary. Last weekend’s top movie, Ouija, grossed $10.7 million, retaining the top spot and just edging out newcomer Nightcrawler, which grossed $10.4 million. However, Tribute viewers gave Nightcrawler a 3.5 star Tribute rating, while Ouija has 2.7 stars. Nightcrawler stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a driven man who is thrown into Los Angeles’ underground world of crime journalism. He becomes entranced with the world and begins taking risky liberties that land him in trouble. Ouija follows a group of friends who try to make contact with their recently deceased friend through a Ouija board.

Coming in third for the second week in a row was Brad Pitt’s war film Fury (4.4 stars), taking in $8.8 million for a gross domestic total of $60.16 million. Staying at fourth place for another week was David Fincher’s Gone Girl (3.5 stars). Currently in its fifth week at the box office, the film grossed $8.48 million, raising its domestic total to $136.3 million.

Rounding out the top five for a second week was The Book of Life (3.6 stars). The animated comedy grossed $8.2 million, bringing its three-week total to $40.4 million. ~Janine Wyslobicky
