Oscar-winner plans film on Osama bin Laden hunt

By Alexandra Heilbron on May 5, 2011 | 11 Comments

Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal, the team behind the war-on-terror, 2010 Best Picture The Hurt Locker, are reportedly working on a project about Osama bin Laden. With confirmation of the death of the Al-Qaeda leader last Sunday night, the filmmakers believe the subject is more relevant in producing now more than ever. The film, which has yet to be titled, is said to focus on the Black Ops and their pursuit of bin Laden, the terrorist who orchestrated the 911 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Bigelow, who was the first female director ever to win an Oscar in the history of the Academy, will release more details about the film soon. Her controversial film, The Hurt Locker, took home six Oscars last year. ~Natasha Tsakiris

Intriguing topic and they did an amazing job on The Hurt Locker, sounds like it’ll be really good.

It is really quite remarkable how they could write and visually present a story like this with accuracy.

    I have a feeling it’ll be in 3D.

I hear Mel Gibson will play bin Laden and the Navy Seal team is all Jewish.

Lets just hope she does a better job of research than she did in Hurt Locker. The poor job of weapons and other props not matching the time period, the moving sun light when the actor was walking down the street (and in other scenes) from south to north to west to south all in a matter of seconds and the poor continuity overall was almost too distracting for what could have been a good movie.
But then movie goers are so into revenge and blood lust that no one will notice if the Americans use bows and arrows and it rains through the whole movie.
Eventually we will stop giving life to bin Laden even after death. Repeatedly watching him on DVD is not taking steps to move forward. But better she attempt the movie than Mel Gibson or Spike Lee.

Holy shit I f**ing predicted this would happen, with this very director. I was hoping for Expendables cast to make it, but I guess it’s the Hurt Locker.
