Paranormal Activity 3 scares off box office competition

Paranormal Activity 3 scared away the competition at the weekend box office, taking over the number one spot with an estimated gross of $54 million (all figures U.S.) and earning 3.5 out of 5 stars from Tribute.ca viewers. Real Steel starring Hugh Jackman dropped a spot in its third weekend to second place, earning an additional $11.3 million and 4.25 stars. Footloose also dropped a spot, landing in third place with an estimated $10.9 million and 4 stars. The new release The Three Musketeers debuted in fourth place, grossing $8.8 million and earning 3 stars. George Clooney‘s The Ides of March, which he directed, co-wrote and co-starred in opposite Ryan Gosling rounded out the top five with $4.9 million and 4 stars.
